After having kambu dosai, pearl millet crepe, this morning, I read about various kinds of millets and few ideas for incorporating them in our diet. Discovered that the plant that grew in my backyard is Sorghum millet, known as cholam in Tamil. I was glad to know that there is a revival spirit to farm millets like foxtail millet, known as thinai, in south india.

Millets can be grown in dry, not so fertile land. Hence can help farmers during periods of drought, and can be grown and harvested within a season (quarter).
